WASHINGTON (ABC 7) — According to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers the number of divorce filings are one third higher than normal in January. Many couples jump into the divorce process without making any preparations – understanding and anticipating the financial implications of the divorce, knowing what and where all their assets are, figuring out how they are going to divide things up, how to take care of their beneficiaries, etc. to help navigate all that and more, GMW sat down with Attorney Kathryn Dickerson of SmolenPlevy Law Firm .
